Sunshine and light winds are forecast for the next couple of days with the return of summer weather after last week's storm.

Today's forecast for Tauranga is high temperature of 26 degrees C, and light winds.

“There is a little bit of cloud about now, and it's covering quite a bit of the sky, but it's quite high and that should burn off and you will be having a really nice day,” says MetService meteorologist Lisa Murray.

Rain yesterday was 17mm recorded at the airport rain gauge for the period overnight from Saturday to Sunday morning.

“From a farming point of view that's not a bad amount, but we would want it on a more regular basis,' says Lisa.

Tomorrow is forecast to be another fine day with light winds in Tauranga, with a high of 27 degrees C.

The rest of the week is also looking to be fine with light winds in the Western Bay of Plenty, with the next shower expected Friday night.
