Car crashed into power pole, sparks fire

A car has hit into a powerline on Wilson Road North, 10km from Maketu.

A car has hit into a power pole causing a bush fire on Wilson Road North, 10km from Maketu.

Police were called to the incident at around 4.30pm where a powerline had fallen, and nearby bush set alight.

A SunLive caller says it looks like the car has crashed into the pole with speed and has caught on fire, causing shrubbery and some of the pole to burn.

People are being advised to take the Te Puke route to Maketu, while police and emergency services are on the scene.
