The weather forecast today is for a fine day with westerlies.

It's a three-clothing layer day today with a high of 15 and an overnight low of 7 degrees.

High tide for Tauranga is at 11am and low tide is at 5.20pm.

This day in NZ history in 1914, 43 miners were killed in an explosion in Huntly.

This day in NZ history in 1981 a flour bomb test ended the Spring Bok tour of NZ. A hired Cessna flew over Eden Park peppering the grounds with flour bombs in an attempt to halt the game. The All Blacks won 25-22

This day in world history in 1992 the Space Shuttle Endeavor took off on NASA's 50th shuttle mission; its crew included the first African-American woman in space, the first married couple, and the first Japanese citizen to fly in a US spacecraft.

A quote for today from Croft M. Pentz - "All the flowers of all the tomorrows are in the seed of today."

Have a great day!
