Sick boy flown to hospital

A boy had to be flown to Tauranga Hospital after being struck down by a “serious medical condition”.

The Tauranga-based Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter was called out to Matakana Island about 8.30am.

Pilot and base manager Liam Brettkelly says a 10 year local boy had become unwell with a serious medical condition.

“He was flown to Tauranga Hospital under the care of the helicopter's St John medic, and he was accompanied by his mother.”
