Ice is causing some slipper and dnagerous driving conditions around the North Island.

Motorists are being warned to expect ice on the roads in the Bay of Plenty and Coromandel with three degrees being recorded at 6.45am.

Icy road conditions are being reported on State Highway 33, between Rotorua and Paengaroa.

SH25 through the Coromandel is also reported to have ice on it.

“Weather conditions in the area are very cold, with matches of black ice very likely,” says police”

“Road users are urged to drive to the conditions, which means slow right down, increase following distances, and use headlights.

“Drivers and passengers should also ensure they have warm clothing with them when travelling these roads in case of emergencies.”
