Today there are a few showers forecast, clearing this afternoon to fine spells.

Fresh southerlies are also expected today.

Its a three clothing and one windproof layer day, with a high of 12 and an overnight low of four degrees.

This day in NZ history, 164 years ago in 1853 on July 14 was when New Zealand's first general election began.

Take care out there and stay warm. Have a great day.
